Snow Day in Arkansas

Seriously. Take note of the treacherous amount of snow on the steps and stoop. 32 degrees, blue sky with no clouds...a beautiful day by midwestern standards :) All schools were closed. We may get more snow days here than in Chicago!

Road Trip Fun

We took our inaugural minivan road trip up north so that we could visit family and friends in West Michigan and Chicago. We appreciated the smooth ride, all the space to move around, sleep and carry presents, and of course the DVD player. We were able to see Jane VanderMeer and the boys, the Nydams and the Spykermans. Lotte, Lauren and Wesley were all born within 7 weeks! Again, I cannot believe I didn't get a photo of any of the big kids :( Sorry, Jonah, TJ, Elsie, Jess, Jordan and Simon...

Then we moved on to Chicago and saw the Burgess' and the Penningtons. Simon was in his glory to be with his big cousin Eliot and to also play with Auden & Abi. Simon & Eliot had their first sleep over in Eliot's bed and they actually slept! Favorite quote from Eliot to Wesley, "Goodnight little Dragon Baby" (note the wings on W).

It was mixed emotions for us to be sure. We're so sure that it was right for us to make the move to Little Rock, but we surely miss being so close to family and friends.

More fun at Grammy & Grampy's

I think Simon's favorite activity (besides the presents, but even that's a close call) was SHOVELING snow. He loved shoveling with Grampy with the shovel Grammy found that was just his size. He also liked it when Grampy shoveled Simon in the shovel!! It was also very fun to take Sydney for a walk in the snow around the block with Grampy. They took him to the library and we all went to the Ford Museum to look around. Wesley got to meet Great Grampy and I cannot believe that I forgot to take a picture of them together :( We also had a fun visit with the Neffs, my lifelong friend, Amy and her kids, Abby and Will.
